Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park receives Green Flag Award 2020

Story 14/10/2020

We’re incredibly proud that Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has been awarded the prestigious 2020 Green Flag Award. This international award honours the best quality parks and green spaces, and is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities. Retaining the award for the seventh consecutive year is an honour, and is a testament to the hard working staff and volunteers who have kept the Park open during such difficult times.

In the last few months the Park has proved itself as a lifeline for many east Londoners, with the beautiful parklands providing safe, open space for everyone in the local area. Offering 560 acres of parklands, parks and waterways there’s plenty of space for local people of all ages to get outside in the fresh air for daily exercise.

As well as offering a source of fresh air and access to nature the Park has provided a space for exercise, leisure and relaxation. This access to green space has been particularly important during lockdown and more than 70 per cent of visitors say the open space has had a positive impact on their physical and mental health, a survey for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park shows.

Why don't you come and explore the beautiful parklands for yourself? The Park is open all year round and is free to enter with plenty of trails for you to enjoy.
