Overview
Hackney Yards refers to four plots (Plots E&F, Plot J East and Plot K2 North) that lie within the heart of the Hackney Wick Central Masterplan boundary, which is bisected by the Hackney Wick Overground railway line and straddles the boundary between the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets to the south, and Hackney to the north. The intention is to deliver a residential led and workplace development on the land in LLDC ownership, and upon completion the freehold will transfer to the developer, Notting Hill Genesis.
Vision

Vision
The vision for Hackney Yards is to deliver high quality, well designed homes, attractive workspaces, streets and spaces at the heart of a thriving new neighbourhood centre. The completed development will positively contribute to creating a better, healthier, more attractive inclusive and sustainable piece of the city.
The development will benefit from the completed Hackney Wick Station upgrade, and will significantly improve the cycle and pedestrian links in the area. New routes will connect south to Fish Island and across the canal on to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Site Context

Site Context
The sites were occupied by industrial works for many years. The character was typical of the area, with working yards and brick warehouses. Plots E and F to the north of the Overground railway line share a boundary with the Hackney Wick conservation area, where there are important heritage buildings that the development will respect.
Similarly, both plots J east and K2 North to the south of the Overground railway line have been in industrial use, however the western side of plot K2 North included a residential area until the mid 1900’s.
All sites front onto the new north-south pedestrian and cycle route which connects both sides of the Overground line, and with it provides a key link in Hackney Wick.
LLDC have partnered with Housing Association Notting Hill Genesis to deliver the residential and workspace let scheme. Notting Hill Genesis have appointed the contractor Ardmore to undertake the construction works.
Programme
Works on site commenced spring 2024 with a target delivery for completion in 2026.
To date, groundworks are being completed across the sites.
