The last two weekends of July will be the biggest and best with UK Athletics Festival of Athletics, centred around London Stadium and running 18 – 21 July. The Park will also be part of National Park City’s waterways festival on 27 and 28 July and to celebrate the opening of our pontoon in the south of the Park, there’ll be free chances to get active on the water, including canoeing and rowing! Or you can just appreciate the Park’s green spaces by going for a walk with one of our free trail guides.
Throughout July, there’ll be free exercise classes throughout the Park – just turn up and join in! Take a look at the weekly programme below.
We’ll also be providing access to free sports sessions and facilities!
- Free pay and ride cycling sessions: Get on your bike (or borrow one for a small fee) and explore Lee Valley VeloPark’s outdoor courses. You can access free pay and ride on either the mountain bike trails or the road circuit from 2.30pm – 5.30pm on Thursday 18 July and 12noon – 4pm on Monday 22 July. You’ll need to quote ‘Active East’ on arrival.
- Free outdoor tennis court access: Turn up and quote ‘Active East’ for an hour's free access at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre from 10am – 2pm on Friday 19 July and 10am – 2pm on Tuesday 23 July. Bring your own equipment or hire it at the venue for a small fee.
Spaces will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be booked in advance.
Run by UK Athletics around the Muller Anniversary Games, this is a great opportunity for the whole community to compete in the world-famous London Stadium! Hundreds of school children will have the chance to be part of the London Boroughs Connect Relays, racing over 100m, 200m and 400m – as well as take part in the Muller Sports Day.
2,000 women can also sign up to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime Couch to 5k race – starting and finishing in London Stadium, and including a free ticket to the Muller Anniversary Games, goodie bag and T-shirt! Registration has now closed.
As part of the Stratford Summer Screen season, IQL will be giving you free opportunities to get active with a twist in Endeavour Square (at the entrance to the Park). Activities include free dance lessons from 5.30pm on 12 July and 6.30pm on 19 July with Cut a Shine ceilidh troupe and swing dancing group Swing Patrol.
From 11am to 5pm on 13 July, you’re invited to come with East Village to the seaside – including free sporting and wellness activities!
As part of National Park City Week, we’ll have free canoeing, rowing and paddleboarding activities on 27 and 28 July from our pontoon in the south of the Park! All sessions are free but should be booked in advance, which you can do here.
