FUN IN THE SUN AT THE MAD HATTER’S TEA PARTY

FUN IN THE SUN AT THE MAD HATTER’S TEA PARTY

Press Release 22/08/2011

In the shade of the giant umbrella toadstools, creatively decorated by children from the local boroughs, members from the Legacy Company Youth Panel joined Alice, the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts and of course the Mad Hatter as they entertained the crowds with various activities including jam tart making, croquet, storytelling, crazy hat creations, giant chess and a treasure hunt. After enjoying homemade picnics families stayed for hours to explore the fun and take in the views of and long term plans for the Olympic Park.

The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is just one of many projects that the Legacy Company’s community and business team is delivering.  The aim of these projects, by working hand in hand with local delivery partners like Discover, is to help grow a sense of local ownership towards the Park, explain the long-term plans and involve people in the transformation of this area as much as possible. It is hoped that community events like this Tea Party will eventually merge into the Park post 2013, to bring the locals together, to help bring the Park alive and familiarise new and existing residents with this new piece of east London.
