Press Release 05/10/2022

Local residents, businesses and other people who use Stratford Station are being invited to attend consultation events on the emerging design proposals for the station and its surrounding area. The proposals include design ideas for new connections, an improved interchange, new and improved public spaces and new building uses. The LLDC is leading the overall project in partnership with Newham Council, Network Rail and Transport for London.

The consultation will be formally launched on Saturday 8 October with the first of four in-person events. Details of these are as follows:

  • Saturday 8th October: 8am-6pm at Westfield Stratford City (First Floor of the mall opposite Bubbleology and Amorino)
  • Tuesday 11th October: 12pm-4pm at Stratford Shopping Centre
  • Wednesday 12th October: 8am-1pm at Stratford Station next to the Jubilee Line platform
  • Wednesday 12th October: 2pm-6pm at Stratford Station outside the Southern Ticket Hall

Alongside this, a digital consultation will run until Friday 18 November -

This is a critical project which will benefit not only local people, but all those across the east and southeast of London who rely on Stratford Station as a major interchange and destination in its own right.

The consultation is being led by Commonplace, in conjunction with 5th Studio who are leading a multidisciplinary design and planning team to produce a planning and development framework focused on how Stratford Station can be improved as an interchange and how it links to the nearby Stratford International Station.  A key part of this study will also assess how better connectivity could be formed between Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Stratford Town Centre. The team will also identify strategies to enable the station to be more accessible and passenger friendly.
