5 ways to spend Valentines Day on the Park

5 ways to spend Valentines Day on the Park

Story 13/02/2019

Whether you’re a true romantic or prefer a bit of rigorous cycling to get your heart racing, there are plenty of great ways to spend this Valentine’s Day in and around the Park.

• Love is in the air, and so will you be – 80m up, to be exact – when you visit the stunning viewing platform at the ArcelorMittal Orbit. When you’ve had enough of gazing into your loved one’s eyes (and at the panoramic skyline views of London, while you’re at it) you can get their pulse racing with a trip down the longest tunnel slide in the world.

• Let love bloom (even if the spring flowers haven’t) with a walk around the extensive parklands and canal paths, taking in all the iconic venues of the London 2012 Games. Nature lovers can download our free Biodiversity trail to use as a guide, with information about the sustainability of the Park and the wildlife and plants you’ll be able to spot – it’ll feel like a country escape, without leaving zone 2.

• The course of true love never did run smooth, but Shakespeare didn’t say anything about swimming or cycling… Put the quality into quality time with a visit to one of our world-leading sporting venues, from a swim under the iconic wave-like roof of the London Aquatic Centre to indoor or outdoor cycling at Lee Valley VeloPark

• Whatever your opinion is of Valentine’s Day, if nothing else it’s the perfect excuse for a good meal out. Whether you fancy a sumptuous brunch or dinner and cocktails, you’ll find plenty of choice in and around the Park. Enjoy a sunset supper at one of the waterfront restaurants on Canalside by Here East, or settle in with a cocktail at one of the East Village’s cosy neighbourhood bars

• Forget the latest rom-com down the cinema, if you’re looking for some evening entertainment this Valentine’s Day why not try something different… like a basketball match at the Copper Box Arena! As part of the BBL, the UK’s top level professional basketball league, Copper Box Arena home team London Lions will be playing Plymouth Raiders – you might even call it a match made in Heaven.
