2026 marks 200 years since UCL was founded as London’s first university. To celebrate, UCL invites the local community to its east London campus for a spectacular event, marking the start of its third century.
UCL Horizons offers two ways to take part
Outside | Free | 18:00-19:30
Outside the award-winning UCL Marshgate building, visitors can enjoy food and drinks alongside free live musical entertainment from the Pandemonium Drummers, a UCL and community performer group who formed for the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. No need to book, just turn up and enjoy the show.
Inside | £5.00 | 20:30-22:00
For just £5, indoor ticket holders can experience Helios, a breathtaking 9-metre artistic centrepiece of the sun, accompanied by a specially commissioned performance in collaboration with our East Bank partners. Members of the BBC Symphony Chorus, together with a choir from St Paul’s Way secondary school in Tower Hamlets, have joined forces with Sadler's Wells Academy Breakin’ Convention and the Pandemonium Drummers to stage an unforgettable multi-level performance of music and dance.
Following the performance, Marshgate will be transformed into a hub of scientific exploration, creativity and imagination, featuring immersive drop-in installations, hands-on activities and a festive market.
Tickets for the indoor performance and activities are available via the UCL Horizons webpage. Select the booking link for 'evening sessions' to purchase tickets.
