SEEDED: V&A East
V&A East brings collections and contemporary creativity into conversation with east London. The V&A East SEEDED residency offers an artist time to develop socially engaged live practice through research, experimentation and exchange. Live can encompass performance, sound, movement, collective making and gathering, including the objects and spaces these practices produce.
Working with V&A East's Curatorial and Learning and Engagement departments, the resident will explore connections between collections, lived experience and creative communities. Public encounters will form part of the research, allowing ideas to develop through participation and reflection. The resident will shape their own enquiry and share its development through accessible activities and creative documentation.
V&A East wants to hear from
Artists or creative practitioners developing a socially engaged practice through performance, sound, movement, material or spatial work, or collaboration across disciplines. We welcome an interest in how live processes and objects inform one another, and how people can contribute to artistic research.
In the application form, artists should propose an enquiry and an approach to working with people, rather than a finished production. We welcome self-taught practitioners and those returning after a career break. Previous museum experience is not required.
You'll be hosted by
The Curatorial department, led by Rubén Salgado Pérez, Curator of Live - in collaboration with the Learning and Engagement team. There is potential for dialogue with V&A collections, galleries, and exhibitions.
