East Summer School returns to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

East Summer School returns to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Press Release 12/08/2021

From making mix tapes with BBC Music to learning about engineering solutions for coronavirus, more than 300 teenagers returned to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park earlier this month for the East Summer School.

It was the first time in two years the school had taken place in a physical setting on the Park after it was held virtually last year.

Children aged between 12 and 17 were able to get a taste of the exciting courses on offer across the school, which ran Monday, July 26 to Friday, August 6.

Summer School courses were delivered by world-leading organisations, such as the BBC, UAL’s London College of Fashion, the V&A, University College London and Sadler’s Wells who all have a major presence at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as part of the East Bank development.

Other partners who supported and contributed to the programme, now in its fourth year, included Here East, Foundation for Future London, City of London, Culture Mile Learning, Mace, LMA, Staffordshire University and Bloom.

The exciting and engaging courses, of which there were 35, consisted of fashion, music, engineering, dance, horticulture, media, business, coding and computer game design.
