Press Release 21/02/2012

The Olympic Park Legacy Company has appointed Mark Camley as Director of Park Operations.

He will be responsible for the running of around 250 acres of open space on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park including parklands, waterways and public spaces.

Mark’s role includes ensuring that the Park’s transport connections, maintenance and events all work smoothly to ensure a high quality experience for visitors and the local community.

One of first major projects will be to oversee the opening of the South Plaza. The 50 acre site sitting between the Stadium and the Aquatics Centre will be London’s newest public space with plans for a visitor centre and space for festivals, concerts and other attractions.

Mark joins the Legacy Company from the Royal Park’s Agency, where he was Chief Executive for the past six and a half years.

Mark Camley, Director of Park Operations at the Olympic Park Legacy Company, said:

“This is an extraordinary time to be joining the Legacy Company as plans for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park takes shape. To be part of one of Europe’s largest regeneration project is a great opportunity. I want to create a Park that is loved by local communities and is visited again and again.”

At The Royal Parks Agency, Mark oversaw some of London’s most significant events such as the Royal Wedding, Live 8 and Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park.

Previously he was the Director of the Supreme Court in Her Majesty’s Courts Service. Other roles include Customer Service Director and Director of the Crown Court for England and Wales.
