Get set for Summer at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as we celebrate 10 Years since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As part of Summer on the Park, and starting the day after The Great Get Together, we are bringing you the ‘Celebrating 10 Years’ Festival Site from Sunday 24 July to Monday 8 August, offering a mix of FREE screen and stage entertainment at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

We’ve not held back. Expect nail-biting elite sport, mass karaoke, movies, and for some added nostalgia, relive London’s iconic summer of sport - with footage of Team GB and Paralympics GB winning gold, silver and bronze at the London 2012 Games, not forgetting highlights such as Super Saturday and the ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We then burst back into present day with live footage of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games from 11am until 9pm, completely live. Remember that the track cycling is taking place at Lee Valley VeloPark from 29th July to 1st August inclusive, so expect something special for cycling enthusiasts.

In addition to the screen, immerse yourself in a line-up of off-screen activities. We’re talking; fitness workshops, The Tumbleator (a giant conveyer belt), live performances from UK Skiffle-Pop band Thrill Collins, as well as some other great bands and live DJs. Plus loads of Instagram-friendly experiences, including a giant walk-in statue by disability rights activist Jason Wilsher-Mills and a Massaoke – Like karaoke but for loads of people!

Come along with your friends, family, and workgang, for a once-in-a-decade event. Kicking off the Summer Holidays, kids are welcome throughout the festival period and there is plenty for them to do during the day.  There will be garden games and other participatory activities, a family rave (with phat beats no less), and Wonderstruck will be performing their crazy science show (they’re going to blow up a bowl of cereal). Bikeworks will be exhibiting a grupetto of unusual bikes – including one that makes smoothies!

Even children's best loved gardener, Mr. Bloom from CBeebies will be appearing on stage with his band, playing songs for all the family to enjoy.

The ‘Celebrating 10 Years’ Festival Site is literally a once-in-a-decade experience on your doorstep.  Tell your friends, tell the neighbours, alert the group chat, this is not to be missed!  Register Your Interest HERE.

Lyn Garner, Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said:

“What better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the London Games than with 16 days of fun, entertainment, sport and culture? It’s a chance for everyone to relive their wonderful memories of 2012 and to make brand new ones here at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.”

Ian Reid, CEO of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, said:

“With Birmingham 2022 being staged on the ten year anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, it’s great news that the ‘Celebrating 10 Years’ Festival Site will be showing live action from the Commonwealth Games, as well as looking back at the sporting action from a decade ago. This will be a fantastic celebration of two major multi-sport events.”

Minister for Sport and Tourism, Nigel Huddleston said:

“Birmingham 2022's free-to-access Festival Sites will bring the spirit of the Commonwealth Games to an even wider audience this summer with live performances, arts and culture to be taken to tens of thousands of visitors. We can’t wait to see Birmingham, the West Midlands and London come to life for this vibrant programme as we continue to celebrate this major year of sport and culture.”

In that time the Park has delivered on its legacy promises creating a must-visit destination for east London attracting six million visits a year, world class sport and entertainment events, thousands of new homes and two new business districts. That progress continues with more homes and jobs to be delivered and projects like East Bank, the most ambitious cultural and education district the country has seen for a generation, set to open soon. It’s a legacy to proud of and one that will continue and inspire generations to come. #London 2012 #PasstheBaton

The ‘Celebrating 10 years’ festival site is generously supported by Delancey, Lendlease and Mace; organisations who have been integral to the lasting legacy of London 2012 and have helped to inspire generations.

About ‘Celebrating 10 Years’ Festival Site Sponsors

Delancey has played a leading role in the legacy of two key areas of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – East Village and Here East. At the former Athletes’ Village, Delancey – together with its partners – established the UK’s build to rent pioneer Get Living to deliver East Village, a thriving neighbourhood that is now home to more than 6,500 people. Across the Park, Delancey has transformed the former Press and Broadcast Centre into Here East, the multi-award winning innovation and technology campus that continues to play a key role in driving strong economic growth in East London.

International Quarter London (IQL) is Lendlease’s flourishing, 24/7 neighbourhood at the heart of Stratford. Lendlease is halfway through delivery of its masterplan and, with sustainability, wellbeing and innovation embedded in its design from day one, IQL has already been established as a premier location for forward-thinking businesses in the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Once complete in 2032, the nine-hectare site will include 2.6m sq. ft of quality office and commercial space, c.650 new homes and 8,000 sq. m of retail space.

Mace is one of the few organisations to have worked on London 2012 from concept to completion and on into its legacy on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Bringing development, consulting, construction and operations services, Mace has been shaping the legacy infrastructure for a decade, now managing the delivery of Stratford Waterfront and playing a leading role in supporting the creation of East Village, a thriving neighbourhood at the former Athletes’ Village.
