This Christmas, the ArcelorMittal Orbit will become the first attraction in the world to accept chocolate coins as legal tender when riding The Slide and visiting the viewing platforms, offering a fun alternative to overindulging on chocolatey treats during the festive period.
Between the hours of 11am and 12 midday on Wednesday 20 December, anyone can join us by using 100 chocolate coins to pay for entry*! The confectionery tender will give them access to the viewing platforms, which offer panoramic views of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and London skyline, as well as a go on the world’s longest and tallest tunnel slide!
Visitors to the ArcelorMittal Orbit can enjoy views of up to 20 miles across London, including iconic sights such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Canary Wharf and Wembley Stadium and a ride on The Slide takes an exhilarating 40 seconds, incorporating 12 hair-raising twists and turns – far more exciting than squabbling over the last chocolate with your siblings!
Peter Tudor, Director of Visitor Services at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, said: “The ArcelorMittal Orbit is the perfect destination for families looking to do something a bit different throughout the festive season - from enjoying panoramic views across London to experiencing a hair-raising ride on the world’s longest and tallest tunnel slide. We know that Christmas is a time of overindulging, so we’re excited to be the first attraction to offer people a chance to put all their excess chocolate to good use…”
The ArcelorMittal Orbit is open every day throughout the Christmas holidays except for Christmas Day, so why not take a break from the Boxing Day sales, or begin your new year with a new experience. Visit during the day to enjoy crisp winter views across London or as the sun sets to watch the magical lights of the capital twinkle in the twilight sky.
