Bounded by water on two of its three sides, the development at Sugar House Island has already begun with the delivery of creative workspaces and offices – kicking off the scheme’s commitment to bring 2,500 jobs to the area. Called Dane’s Yard, this first phase offers 100,000ft² (9,000m²) of imaginative workspaces in an exciting mix of eight new and old buildings which are sensitively-restored, contemporary spaces, perfect for up-and-coming businesses to settle and thrive.
Dane’s Yard is also home to The Printhouse Bar and Kitchen, reinstating a local favourite with the addition of a new coffee shop. A new bar, gym and convenience store will add to the mix soon.
In spring 2020, the first riverside homes will be available to rent. Forty percent of them are three bedroom or more, part of the scheme’s commitment to attract families and create a stable, thriving community.
Plans are also underway to create a new two-form entry primary school and the scheme is committed to its mixed use and placemaking credentials. Over the next five years Sugar House Island will bring more bars, coffee shops & restaurants, as well as convenience stores, all with an independent theme. Community spaces will host events for office occupiers and residents.
