Father's Day at the Park

Father's Day at the Park

Story 17/06/2020

While all of our plans might look a little different this year, there is still lots you can do to come together as a family and make the day just as special. Whether you’re having a day out as a household or picking the Park as your meeting point, here are our top tips for spending Father’s Day:

  1. The humble picnic has made a comeback during lockdown, and with good reason! There’s something about coming together over a delicious meal while enjoying the great outdoors. Grab the hamper and soak up the afternoon sun in the acres of open space.
  2. Take a family walk in the Park! You’ll be treated to views of iconic architecture, as well as stunning landscapes and beautifully crafted gardens. If you’re after something a little more tailored, check out our free trails which will show you all the best bits of the Park and the wildlife that calls it home.
  3. If you’re looking to get a little more active with your dad, the Park is perfect for a gentle jog or bike ride. It’s relatively flat so there are no pesky hills to break a sweat over! Follow in the footsteps of Olympians while spending quality time with your family.
  4. Many restaurants and cafés on or around the Park are offering takeaway or delivery services, so why not order a scrumptious meal? Not only will that take the hassle out of preparing dinner yourself, you’ll also have the added bonus of supporting a local business which will make it so much better! There are lots of options to choose from, whether you want a light snack from The Last Drop, a hearty Italian from Gotto Trattoria at Canalside or a classic fish and chips from Fish House in East Village – you'll find something to suit all tastes.

Whatever you get up to, we hope you make it the best it can be! Please remember to stay safe by maintaining social distancing at all times and a friendly reminder that barbeques are not permitted at the Park. Car parking around the Park is limited, so walking or cycling is advised and please plan your visit before travelling. Toilets at The Podium, next to the ArcelorMittal Orbit, are open daily from 8:30am – 4:30pm.
