£38,503 Per Annum, Permanent Contract

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be London’s newest urban park – so much more than your average green space.  Covering over 45 hectares, the parklands provide a diverse landscape rich in character, horticultural excellence and wildlife habitat.    Full public access will make the park a highly accessible destination for local communities as well as for visitors from much further afield. The Park will offer a wide range of recreational opportunities as a place for events, culture, sport and entertainment as well as healthy living, ecology, and biodiversity.

Role Summary

Working closely with the Head of Estates and Facilities Management, the Park Manager will act as the key operational contact with the landscape Contractor and will proactively manage the operation and maintenance of the Parkland and public realm, setting high performance standards for horticultural and infrastructure services and ensuring that such standards are delivered.  With the ability to identify and recommend changes, the post holder will also act in an assurance role to advise on best practice for all park related matters, including the development and implementation of the Park Management Plan, and the achievement of national accreditation through the Green Flag scheme.

The Person

To apply for this role you must hold relevant horticultural qualifications with a sound plant knowledge.  and have extensive managerial experience within a landscape or horticulture role.  With highly developed team working and interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to develop and sustain relationships through all levels of the organisation.  Having the initiative to advise and inform as appropriate is essential as well as the ability to identify and implement innovative, practical solutions to complex problems.  You will demonstrate high levels of diplomacy with the confidence to engage with a variety of stakeholders.  Above all, successful candidates will need to demonstrate real energy, passion and enthusiasm both for gardening and working with people.
