Formed in April 2012, the London Legacy Development Corporation’s purpose is to use the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of the London 2012 Games and the creation of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to develop a dynamic new heart for east London, creating opportunities for local people and driving innovation and growth in London and the UK.
The Legacy Corporation is responsible for delivering one of the most important Olympic legacy promises made in the original London 2012 Games bid. This pledge concerns the physical legacy of the Games – the long-term planning, development, management and maintenance of the Park and its impact on the surrounding area after the London 2012 Games. We are a Mayoral Development Corporation and therefore directly accountable to Londoners through the Mayor of London.
Reporting to the Deputy Financial Controller, the Systems Financial Accountant is a key member of the Financial Services Team. The post holder will manage and operate the LLDC financial system in addition to working closely with other members of the Finance Team to ensure that the departmental aims and programmes of work are delivered effectively.
The Systems Financial Accountant will:
- Provide day to day systems support and resolve any issues.
- Configuration of systems to ensure that the business can achieve optimum levels of control with; user groups, menu security and document security.
- Deliver training on the systems to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Review the current interfaces, forms and procedures of the system and advise on solutions to streamline and improve processes.
- Work alongside the finance business partners to provide support in the provision of timely financial information to the business.
Knowledge and Experience
To apply for this role you must be degree educated or hold a relevant professional qualification and be CCAB qualified. You must be able to demonstrate extensive experience with managing, operating and improving financial accounting systems and must have previously worked with a third party provider to ensure that finance systems are working to their optimum capacity. We are looking for someone who has and awareness and understanding of public sector financial procedures and have a high level understanding of financial controls and reflecting these through workflows and controls on financial systems.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required in this role as the post holder will need to be able to present and explain information clearly to non-finance and senior members of staff. You must also have the ability to liaise with colleagues from a non-financial background and act as a partner to serve the business and understand the value that the finance function brings. We are looking for someone with good problem solving skills and someone who will adhere to the standards and expectations of finance within the organisation but will challenge the “way it is always done before”.
