Salary Band 8 £95,369 with incremental pay scale - £116,562 per annum + attractive benefits
Permanent contract based in Stratford, East London
Inspired by the vision for the legacy of the Great Exhibition in Kensington, ‘Olympicopolis’ at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (formerly the site of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games) will cement east London’s reputation as an international trailblazer in design and creativity.
The stunning waterside development will create a major new, world class education and cultural district for the UK - bringing together outstanding organisations to showcase exceptional art, dance, history, craft, science, technology and cutting edge design. Sadler’s Wells, University of the Arts London, University College London and The Victoria and Albert Museum are founding members of the project, which is backed by the Mayor of London and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with more high profile national and international partners coming on board.
We are looking for two commercial directors to jointly lead on the commercial management and administration of LLDC’s contract with our Project Management Partner and future contractors. Providing strategic commercial input, you will be required to challenge and audit all contractor, consultant and supplier contracts and provide direction on all commercial aspects of the 'Olympicopolis' programme.
The Commercial Directors will provide commercial challenge of the Project Management Partner’s project status, reporting, risk reporting, change control and cost verification. Working closely with the Project Leader you will be responsible for:
- Providing commercial guidance and insight when necessary.
- Design and implement commercial strategies across major projects in order to meet performance targets and plans.
- Participate and influence during the pre-contract stages of all projects and ensure legal compliance and commercial innovation.
- Contribute to pre-construction phases as the commercial viewpoint and provide input into procurement strategies and value engineering exercises.
- Review, validate and administer all payment applications from the Project Management Partner contract.
Knowledge and Experience
We are looking for two talented chartered professionals from a contracting or construction management background with a proven track record of in the successful and profitable management of mixed use developments. The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate extensive experience of the property development sector and the use of financial analysis and funding mechanisms as well as having a strong knowledge of the design and construction methodologies used in residential, commercial and associate infrastructure.
Skills and Abilities
It is essential in this role that the post holders have high level commercial negotiating and influencing skills and the ability to quickly establish rapport and credibility with internal and external stakeholders. This is a fast paced and dynamic working environment so the successful candidates need to be able to cope with a high degree of ambiguity and change and be able to build, motivate and inspire effective teams to achieve success.
