Building on the success of last year’s Big Lunch, the Great Get Together will be the perfect opportunity to join your neighbours, friends and family for a huge picnic to kick start a fantastic summer at the Park. The Great Get Together at the Park forms part of a nationwide event in partnership with the Jo Cox Foundation to bring communities together to celebrate connections and commonality.
Come to the Park between 12noon - 6pm and celebrate London’s diverse communities. Expect to see a main stage with a variety of exotic performances and an area dedicated to dance and music, with the likes of Sadler's Wells Theatre, African drumming, Newham Community Choir, Stratford Poetry, local acoustic performances and much more!
There will also be a storytelling tent, hosted by Stratford Library and Discover Storytelling centre, with a range of interactive storytelling sessions and book corners.
Enjoy plenty of roaming acts, from stilt walkers to circus-style performers, then get stuck in with various arts and crafts activities.
Indulge in a homemade picnic or treat yourself with the worldwide cuisine which will be available, including: Eve's Caribbean kitchen, Nonno Luigis pizza, Babur Indian, Akindo Japanese and more!
Burn off your big lunch with a go on the 60m athletic track which will host an egg and spoon race, sack races, fathers races and more.
Hero the Hedgehog and Whizbee the Bee will also be making their first public appearance on the Park this weekend, since their reveal in April this year! The official mascots for the IAAF World Championships and World Para Athletics Championships London 2017 will be joining us this Sunday, so you can mingle with the mascots on between 12noon and 6pm! Make sure you get a selfie and show us on Instagram #QEOP.
You can plan your journey to the Park by checking out our getting here page. Park volunteers and plenty of signage will be available on the day to direct you to the north of the Park where the event is taking place! Additionally, you can find out more information and save the date in your diary by joining our Facebook event - remember to invite your friends and family!
