Over the course of a weekend, artist David Allies-Curtis invited the public to collaborate in the making of a giant rope spiders web, learning how to tie knots that have a nautical and natural theme!
Taking inspiration from the diversity of the ecology of the Park, the web evolved organically over the two days as more and more people joined in. Sitting at the foot of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the installation mirrored the sculpture perfectly with it's intertwining red pieces.
Suitable for all abilities, local people and tourists, young and old, helped to build the completed web. There was also a web hunt, popular with children, which sent visitors on a scavenger hunt around the south of the Park to find more web installations.
A web hunt allowed visitors to search for more web installations dotted around the south of the Park for a prize!
