Five ways to celebrate Mothering Sunday on the Park

Story 05/03/2018

If you’re celebrating Mothering Sunday this weekend, Sunday 11 March, then check out these five fabulous ideas to spend time with your mum in the surroundings of London’s most exciting Park!

  1. Treat her to an adventure high in the sky! Come along to the ArcelorMittal Orbit on Mothering Sunday, just the pair of you or with the whole family, mum’s will receive free General Entry to the attraction. With stunning skyline views and some awe-inspiring art, there are plenty of opportunities to sit back, relax and enjoy the company of one another over the beautiful panoramic views. Or if your mum isn’t one for relaxing, then why not upgrade the ticket for just £5 to ride the world’s longest and tallest tunnel Slide – subject to availability! The deal is only available when buying tickets at the door on the day - one free ticket for the mother only when bought with another paid for ticket – subject to availability.
  2. Save even more pennies on a great day out with you mum…Why buy a bunch of flowers when you can see acres of them on one of our trails and in the gardens? Check out the highlights of the Park’s most treasured nature spots in the Parklands and Wildlife trail – you’ll learn of the best vantage points for bird watching, animals of the Park and the species of flower that you’re likely to stumble across.
  3. Refuel and relax in one of the many delicious bars and restaurants. Whether you’re after a coffee and cake, a glass of prosecco or a full-blown three course meal, there’s a whole host of places to choose from spread all across the Park. Eat in the footsteps of a champion inside East Village, previously the Athlete’s Village during the London 2012 Games – here you’ll find artisan cafes and unique restaurants! Or unwind in the relaxing atmosphere of Canalside at Here East, where you’ll find the likes of The Breakfast Club, Randy’s Wing Bar, Four Quarters and many more. The Last Drop is also great for visitors to the ArcelorMittal Orbit, as it is located right next door! Here, you’ll find a menu full of locally sourced, fresh produce with great views of the London Aquatics Centre too!
  4. Does your mum love live entertainment? Check out the events taking place on the Park this year and treat her with a pair of tickets! With sports events such as the Aviva Premiership Derby Day Fixture: Saracens VS Harlequins, the Hockey Women’s World Cup and huge music events like the Arcadia London 10th Anniversary Festival and The Rolling Stones taking place in the Park – there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

  5. If pure adrenaline is the answer, then how about a voucher for a track cycling taster session at the Lee Valley VeloPark? Then you can tell your friends that your mum pedalled in the tracks of Laura Kenny and Sir Chris Hoy from their Gold Medal haul at the London 2012 Games. Buy your gift voucher, redeem any time over the following year and pedal your way to the top of Mothering Sunday memories!
