THINGS TO DO THIS FEBRUARY HALF TERM

Press Release 18/01/2019

Whether you opt in to relax or run, play or paddle, stroll or slide during February Half Term, you won’t be short of things to do here at the Park!

Half Term On the Park

From Saturday 10 – Sunday 25February, friends and families are invited to join us for a Half Term to remember. With numerous public transport routes into Stratford, including Central Line, Jubilee Line, Overground, buses and so much more, it’s a convenient journey for all. Located in zone 2, only 7 minutes away from Liverpool Street, the Park is practically on your doorstep – and free to enter 24/7!

Start your day with a trip to the ArcelorMittal Orbit. With extended opening times until 6pm, you can watch London dazzle in the morning light or come along in the afternoon for stunning sunset views of up to 20 miles across the capital! At 80 metres high, the two viewing platforms feature spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows, interactive screens, gigantic mirrors which flip London’s horizon upside down and an outdoor suspended viewing platform where you'll find inspiring views across the Park. For daredevil children aged 8 and above, and adults who are looking for a thrill this Half Term, then why not take on the world’s biggest tunnel Slide? With 12 twists and turns and a terrifyingly-amazing corkscrew section to finish, you’ll be the talk of the classroom in no time! Be sure to buy your tickets to the ArcelorMittal Orbit in advance, whether you’re coming for the views, art or to #RideTheSlide, tickets are limited!

Lee Valley VeloPark has a host of world class facilities available for everyone to use! Take your pic of TrackMountain bikingBMX or Road cycling at the the venue and sharpen your skills over any discipline of your choice.

The London Aquatics Centre is open for action! Swim in the lanes of Michael Phelps, Ellie Simmonds and many other famous athletes from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Pool of Champions awaits - with family swim sessions or casual sessions available, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

The hundreds of acres of parklands are also waiting to be explored. Download the children’s adventure trail or pick up a copy from the information point and unlock mysteries across the Park. Take it at your own pace and enjoy the state-of-the-art playgrounds while on the move. In the south of the Park, the pleasure gardens play area has climbing frames, swings, and sand pits galore, set in the shadows of the inspiring London Stadium.

In the south of the Park, the Pleasure Gardens Play Area features sand pits, swings, slides, wobbly bridges and plenty of space to run about! Conveniently located near to The Last Drop and the outdoor kiosks, parents can grab a coffee and a delicious snack to relax with while the little ones let off their steam! Talking of energy, there are plenty of places to eat and drink across the Park – whether you’re looking for a revitalising breakfast or a three-course meal with the family, be sure to check out the restaurants on Canalside at Here East or the delicious venues in East Village for a Half Term treat.

London Stadium will also be running daily tours! You can stand in the footsteps of Usain Bolt, Greg Rutherford, or one of many premier league football players this Half Term. The tours offer a fantastic chance to go behind the scenes and learn fascinating facts about one of the world’s most iconic stadiums!

Looking to up the fitness game? There are plenty of free sports sessions taking place around the Park during week, including: Abs, Bums & Thighs, HIIT Yoga, Elite Fitness and much more!

During the last few days of half term, from 22 - 25 February, why not bring the whole family down to see some world class table tennis at the Copper Box Arena in the International Table Tennis Federation Team World Cup. The best players in the world will be battling it out for gold, including England - where the men's team will be looking to capitalise on their bronze medal from last year!
