FIVE FANTASIC IDEAS FOR VALENTINES DAY AT THE PARK

FIVE FANTASIC IDEAS FOR VALENTINES DAY AT THE PARK

Story 26/01/2017

While the rest of London suffers from pollution in the air, here at the Park we’re sensing love is in the air. If you’re looking to escape the busy London vibes, without paying extortionate fares or travelling a long way, then you’ll be pleased to know we’re only a seven minute train ride from St Pancras International. We’re also easy to get to from Central line, Jubilee line, DLR, overground and National Rail. As with Valentine’s Day, the Park is known for its action and energy and we have plenty of ideas to treat your loved one to the perfect day out! Here are our top 5 ideas:

  • Sweep you partner off their feet and take them on a ride to cloud nine to see London from above. TheArcelorMittal Orbit is open daily from 11am – 5pm on Monday – Friday, and from 10am – 6pm on weekends. As well as the fantastic panoramic views of the stunning London skyline, you can enjoy playing with the concave mirrors and touchscreen panels. Upgrade your ticket and enjoy a bottle of prosecco after your trip, perhaps to commemorate taking the world's longest and tallest tunnel slide back to the ground. Take the plunge and experience the twelve tight twists as they propel you down the exhilarating slide! After all, what is Valentine’s Day without a little bit of action? We understand that sometimes ‘life’ just gets in the way and not everyone can celebrate on February 14, so buy your gift voucher now, whether that be for general entry, a ride on the slide, or upgraded to the Prosecco experience, and you have a year to decide when you want to use it (just be sure to book in advance)
  • Escape the hustle and bustle and bring your partner for a slow stroll through the Park with the charming trails available for romantics to explore. Creatives will enjoy the art trail which exposes all the fascinating installations throughout the Park, while sport fanatics can re-live the momentous 2012 Olympic Games on the London 2012 trail. Either way, make sure you meander under the glistening lights on the promenade in the evening, running from Podium café to the end of Carpenter's Lock.
  • Why not venture to one of the Park’s best kept secrets? The Great British Garden was one of the most cherished areas throughout the London 2012 Games, and is now being rediscovered by visitors for its beautiful layout and tranquil ambience.
  • Add some spice into the mix and get the adrenaline going. Lee Valley VeloPark hosts sessions for all abilities to go on the iconic indoor cycling track. The 42 degree track is guaranteed to get the blood flowing as you pick up a sweat on the same track that saw the likes of Chris Hoy, Jason and Laura Kenny take the gold medal during the climax of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
  • All the action of Valentine’s Day is bound to make you hungry, so you’ll be pleased to hear that the Park and the surrounding areas are rampant with delicious restaurants and charming bars. During the day you can refuel with essential coffees and cakes in Timber Lodge Café or grab a snack at the Podium bar and kitchen after riding the slide. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the wide variety of cuisines available in East Village and fighting over seats in the restaurants at HereEast for the best view of the stunning canal. Otherwise, you could wind down with a three course meal, a snack or a tasty cocktail or two in the eccentric and vibrant surroundings of Hackney Wick.
