ICONIC LONDON 2012 TRACK STARTING NUMBERS TO BE AVAILABLE VIA AUCTION

ICONIC LONDON 2012 TRACK STARTING NUMBERS TO BE AVAILABLE VIA AUCTION

Story 05/08/2016

The starting numbers from the London 2012 track are amongst the most iconic and sought after sections that are now available via auction.

One of the world’s experts in sports memorabilia, Graham Budd, is auctioning the greatest pieces of London 2012 track through the online auction house ‘the saleroom’ from 10:00 Friday 05 August until 19:00 Sunday 21 August. The former track, removed as part of the stadium transformation works, was used for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and is available for members of the public to own.

The unique sporting memorabilia was taken from the track that saw athletes such as Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill win gold medals on ‘Super Saturday’ and was graced by the world’s greatest athletes four years ago, including Usain Bolt. The public is being given the chance to own a piece of the iconic London 2012 track after it was successfully removed from the former Olympic Stadium. Items are on general sale at www.london2012track.com

Memorabilia expert Graham Budd now has the opportunity to auction some of the ‘premier sections’ of the London 2012 track including lane numbers and start lines. The online auction coincides with the Rio Olympic Games, and concludes on the day of the closing ceremony. He said: “I am really excited to have been asked to auction these iconic pieces of London 2012 history. For me, and I’m sure this will be the case for prospective bidders, handling the pieces of track brought back so many wonderful memories of that glorious summer in 2012.

This is the first opportunity that these sections of the athletics track have been made available to the general public, and to have all nine numbers from the running lanes, a selection of start lines and other interesting items, is fantastic. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a premium item of sporting memorabilia.

The items for sale at www.the-saleroom.com/grahambudd include:
• 9 sections of track from Lanes 1 – 9 with “1” marking, “2” marking etc.
• Men's 110m Hurdles Start Line lane with “110” marking
• 400m & 4 x 100m Relay with “4 x 100” & “400” marking
• Lane 9 start line for 200m with “200” marking
• Lane 5 start line for 200m with “200” marking
• Start line for 800m with “800” marking

• Small Framed London 2012 Track £60
• Boxed London 2012 Track £99
• Limited Edition Large Framed London 2012 Track £399
