We spoke to Rachel Edwards, Workplace Futures Lead, Lendlease about the energy and future of the neighbourhood.

Q Tell us a bit more about Lendlease?

Lendlease is a global property company. We have a real sweet spot when it comes to larger mixed-use urban regeneration, creating places where people can live, work and play. 

What is the mission for Stratford Cross?

Our ambition is to create places where people and the community can thrive. Stratford's energy is so unique and important for its future. We rely on the mix of people who live and work here as well as the visitors who come to the area every single day. It's the momentum created from that which will really drive the future of Stratford Cross.

What's your main focus?

I spend my time focused on the future of work and understanding what businesses want and need and what matters to them the most, making sure that knowledge and research is used to make a true difference to the places we're creating.

So what's next for Stratford Cross?

We're halfway through delivering Stratford Cross (and we've already leased over 1m sq.ft of office space) and there's so much more to come. The Turing Building is our next plot coming out of the ground, with 350,000 sq.ft of office space, that will be delivered in 2024. It's a really exciting next generation office building, maximising sustainability, wellbeing and is designed around the future flexible worker. The ground floor is designed to be permeable with the community beyond its four walls, including terraces and lots of outdoor space and daylight. We already have some really exciting brands joining us, including an Everyman Cinema.

What truly stands out to you about being here

What makes it really unique is that it's a microcosm of London. You have everything here. The green of Richmond Park; the shopping and leisure scene of Oxford Street and the culture of the South Bank - all wrapped into one area, right on the doorstep of award-winning offices.
